Posted on September 1st, 2008

In this tutorial you will design metallic structures perfect for creating metallic banners.

Step one:

Create a new layer-set called Metallic Structures.
In a new layer, draw a #00D5F5 wide triangle.
Add the following layer styles: Inner Shadow, Gradient Overlay, Stroke.

Step two:

Create a similar triangle as step one but this time, the height of the second piece should be half the size from step one.

Step three:

Duplicate step two and position it as you see on the picture guide.

Step four:

Create a new layer, draw another #00D5F5 rectangle, same as on the picture guide.
Add the following layer styles: Gradient Overlay, Stroke.

Step five:

Duplicate the piece for the other side.

Step six:

Merge the Metallic Structures layer-set.

Step seven:

Go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. Then Sharpen the image by going to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen More.

Step eight:

Now stretch out the middle pipes across as shown on the picture guide.
